LAICALE was founded in Italy in 1988 by Fabrizio Fiumicelli, born into a family of Italian hairdressers and raised in a culture where technique, craftsmanship, and personal style were inseparable. What began in Italy evolved into an international creative identity, expanding to New York City and Japan and establishing LAICALE at the intersection of hair, fashion, and culture.

In 1999, LAICALE opened its SoHo salon at Crosby and Grand Streets, bringing its Italian heritage into the creative energy of downtown New York. More than 25 years later, the salon remains distinctly SoHo—independent, international, fashion-forward, and constantly evolving.

LAICALE has never been about following a formula. Our approach begins with the individual. We look at texture, movement, proportion, lifestyle, and personal style to create hair that feels considered without feeling overdone. Precision and technique provide the foundation, but instinct is just as important as good taste. The result is modern, wearable hair with an edge—designed to look as good in real life as it does when you leave the salon.

Fashion has always been part of LAICALE’s DNA. Since arriving in New York, the LAICALE team has been at the forefront of the city’s fashion industry, with editorial work spanning runway and fashion shows, print and editorial productions, celebrity styling, photography, creative collaborations, and elite industry events. Through the salon and its New York editorial agency, Fabrizio and the LAICALE team have worked behind the scenes alongside designers, photographers, models, editors, and other creative talent, bringing the same level of artistry and technical expertise to the fashion world that defines the work inside the salon. That editorial perspective continues to influence LAICALE today, where ideas from fashion, art, architecture, design, music, street culture, and New York itself are translated into highly personal cuts, color, and styling.

At the center of LAICALE is a diverse collective of stylists and colorists, each bringing their own point of view and expertise to the chair. Some have been part of the salon for decades; others represent a new generation of talent. Together, they share the same commitment to craft, creativity, collaboration, and creating work that feels individual rather than prescribed.
